As General Manager, US, you will be responsible for leading and driving the daily operations of First Mode offices, R&D spaces, and/or production facilities in the US. Internally, you serve as the principal advocate for the US region within the company, directly managing the facilities and operations support team and serving as the focal point for local Business Partners. You define and uphold culture for your geography, instilling, demonstrating, and upholding First Mode values. Externally, you will represent First Mode to new and prospective customers, government personnel, and community stakeholders. A successful General Manager is able to translate company strategy into day-to-day operations for a geography.

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead the management and growth of First Mode’s US facilities, including office and laboratory space
  • Manage the execution of day-to-day matters for First Mode, US, linking them to company strategy and driving lasting outcomes inside the organization
  • Lead the team of US Business Partners across relevant support functions, such as IT, HR, Recruiting, HSE, and Finance
  • Create and maintain US facility and Business Operations budget
  • Interface and work collaboratively with other Business Operations leaders at the company on IT, Facilities, Health & Safety, Security, Business Development, Government Relations, and Change Management
  • Lead important projects for the company, including facility standup, operational transformations, strategy development, partnerships, internal R&D, and proposal efforts
  • Manage and build out the US Business Operations team to support a rapidly growing organization, estimated 8-20 personnel 
  • Ensure the business complies with relevant US laws and regulations
  • Represent First Mode with external stakeholders in support of existing customer relationships, business development, government relations, community engagement, and other relevant activities
  • Maintain cognizance over the US facilities and operations, and act as the executive teams' "eyes and ears" for the region
  • Support inputs to the Executive Team and Board of Directors, as required

Basic Qualifications

  • 6+ years' experience in relevant field (BizOps, support functions, project / product leadership roles), BA or BS
  • Experience building and leading a team
  • Experience developing and implementing new business processes
  • Proven project management skills: building and maintaining work backlogs; tracking, scheduling, and driving projects to completion
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, executive communication
  • Soft skills / advocacy & coalition building without direct authority

Preferred Qualifications

  • Startup / rapid growth experience, esp. leadership in BizOps roles during fundraising rounds
  • Management of multiple office locations
  • Facility buildout / expansion experience

Location

  • This position will be located at First Mode’s headquarters in Seattle, WA and will be required to work in office >60% of working hours
