First Mode is seeking a Senior Director of Marketing & Communication who will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive internal and external strategy to support our mission and growth. This position will be responsible for leading and managing internal and external communications, product marketing, content creation, social media, technical writing, and executive communications. A successful candidate will work closely with the executive team to drive brand awareness and engagement among key stakeholders, including First Mode’s product, programs commercial, and growth teams.

Position Responsibilities

  • Leadership
    • Manage a team of marketing and communication professionals, providing guidance and mentorship to support their growth and development
    • Create and own the Marketing & Communications budget, vendor relationships, and agency partnerships
    • Secure internal alignment and set strategy for team priorities and scope
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all channels 
    • Lead crisis communication efforts, including development of crisis communication plans
    • Act as a company spokesperson and lead media relations efforts
  • External Communication
    • Develop  strong global brand communications and company messaging stories, positioned to reach key external stakeholders
    • Set content development strategy and oversee implementation, including articles, blog posts, whitepapers, and case studies to support brand and product awareness
    • Oversee the company’s digital content strategy, including website, social media channels, and digital campaigns
    • Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including reporters, analysts, industry influencers, partners, customers, community groups, and non-profits
    • Create and implement external executive communications strategy
  • Internal Communication
    • Develop company internal communications strategy, working with the C-suite to establish a regular cadence of leadership communication, leveraging the strengths of First Mode’s leadership team to best amplify internal messages
    • Use communications with First Mode’s internal stakeholders to improve employee experience, efficiency between teams, and keep pace with the growth of a rapidly scaling company
    • Engage with First Mode’s People team on the roll out of internal initiatives and assist with change management
    • Define and use First Mode’s internal communication tools, including Slack, E-mail, Wikis, Intranet, All-Hands, and in-person meetings
    • Develop and implement internal executive communications profiles
  • Product Marketing & Brand
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive global product marketing and communication strategy for First Mode’s nuGen haulage solution that aligns with the company’s goals and objectives
    • Oversee the creation of marketing collateral, including website content, product information, and other sales materials
    • Support individual teams with branding needs, including templates, swag, giveaways, visuals, videos, and more
    • Maintain First Mode’s brand guidelines 

Basic Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of marketing and communication best practices, including social media, content marketing, and public relations
  • Experience leading and managing a team of marketing and communications professionals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to develop and execute marketing and communication strategies that drive business results
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-function teams and senior executives
  • Desire and ability to understand technical nuance, translating highly detailed information into accurate for broad audiences 

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in marketing and communication, with a focus on the manufacturing or technology sectors
  • Passion for sustainability and environmental issues
  • Desire and ability to understand technical nuance, translating highly detailed information into accurate for broad audiences 

Location

  • This position will be located at First Mode’s headquarters in Seattle, WA and will be required to work in office >60% of working hours

Total Rewards

Base Salary Range: $177,500 - $238,500
