Director, Government Business Development (DEFENSE) [JOB 103]

Position Responsibilities

  • Lead the day-to-day execution of First Mode’s government defense sector business development strategy 

  • Manage and own the end products of a variety of work, which may include more than one concurrent project

  • Build lasting and productive relationships across our client's organization

  • Assist with business development initiatives, including site visits, proposal development, and relationship management

  • Demonstrated ability to learn new subjects quickly, converse effectively with client personnel, and appreciate technical subtleties

  • Anticipate the need to solicit feedback from executive stakeholders to confirm the consistency of project direction

  • Proactively identify areas where objectives may not be met, notify internal stakeholders, and drive prompt resolution

  • Represent the company publicly at conferences, industry events, and in front of our clients

  • Navigate an ambiguous environment working closely with your team but also autonomously with little direction

  • Willingness to travel within the United States & internationally

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of business management experience in highly technical and creative environment

  • Experience in the defense or intelligence sector within the US Federal Government

  • Eager to innovate, take initiative, and maximize the opportunities for others

  • Skills to communicate complex concepts effectively to broad audiences

  • Exceptional quantitative and analytical problem-solving skills

  • Openness to taking personal risks and willingness to make rapid adjustments

  • Ability to work collaboratively with executives to understand, document and execute on the vision

  • Excitement and enthusiasm to work on a small team, regularly contributing to company direction, strategy, and growth

Location

  • Washington DC

  • First Mode HQ is located in Seattle, Washington; some travel between Washington DC and Seattle required
