There’s no question that a shift to a nearly-remote workforce has its challenges. While we have continued to work successfully with clients on clean tech and space programs, some of the biggest areas of impact have been on socializing and enriching team culture. With some of the First Mode team scattered throughout the Seattle region and beyond, we’ve been seeking more opportunities for continued learning, team-building, and fun.
So when Canlis, one of Seattle’s most celebrated restaurants, launched Canlis Community College (CCC) — a new program designed to entertain, educate, and give back to the community — we knew this was a perfect fit for First Mode and our curious team.
With virtual classes that include Dad Jokes, Baking with the WSU Bread Lab, Seattle Black history, The Mind of a Traveller with Rick Steves, and socially-distanced Pickleball, Canlis Community College is intended to engage the mind and bring back what so many of us have been missing: shared local experiences and great learning opportunities.
Plus, all net profits from CCC go to FareStart, a Seattle-based non-profit that transforms lives, disrupts poverty and nourishes communities through food, life skills and job training. Thank you Canlis for putting this together!
Want to work with us? We’re hiring! First Mode draws on the exceptional talent and creativity of its multidisciplinary team to solve the toughest problems on and off the planet. Check out our open positions in Seattle and Perth.
