First Mode’s team continues to grow – and we’ve gotten really good at remote on-boarding! We are excited to introduce our eight newest hires. These team members are filling critical roles in electrical, industrial, mechanical and firmware engineering, operations, and marketing and communications.

Aaron Ison

Aaron brings his extensive engineering team leadership, mechanical engineering expertise and a technical sales background from Blue Origin and the Cascade Engine Center.

Brock Prince

Brock is an innovation team lead with prior experience at T-Mobile, Sprint, and Teague. He specializes in front-end product development and integration and also brings expertise in the high-level systems architecture of flight-qualified hardware.

Colleen Rubart

Colleen is an experienced global corporate communications and marketing professional and has worked at Fortune 50 multinationals including Boeing, Intel, Autodesk and Yahoo as well as disruptive startups, to bring more exposure to their achievements, big ideas and talents.

Jesse Llona

Jesse brings a software engineering background from Genie and the University of Washington Bothell, where he developed software for safety-critical distributed control systems and was part of a multidisciplinary team developing an autonomous vehicle under an Amazon Catalyst grant.

Kurt Fischer

Kurt is an award-winning creative, design and usability director with experience in leading how products are conceived, shaped, tested and delivered. He is First Mode’s first Industrial Design principal and has previously worked at VICIS, Philips Design, Philips Medical & Teague.

Trevor Owen

Trevor is an experienced firmware engineer and has held key roles at Rhino Camera Gear and Alpha Technologies, implementing multimillion-dollar projects from design to manufacturing release.

Troy Swanson

Troy brings deep experience in control and monitoring of mechanical systems, RF communications and audio amplification. Most recently with Blue Origin, Troy also worked at Williamson and Associates and the University of Washington Applied Physics Lab, specializing in autonomous underwater vehicles.

Von Diaz

Von is an accomplished facilities manager and brings her leadership and experience managing complicated operations and facilities from Oracle, as well as her creative background in graphic design.
