International Mining reports on First Mode’s unveiling of an expanded range of decarbonization solutions to support mining partners’ Path to Zero™ emissions. Julian Soles, First Mode CEO, highlights the journey’s commencement with Hybrid Electric solutions, serving as a feedforward approach to converting diesel fleets in the future to fully zero-emission battery or hydrogen fuel cell options. The Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) option features regenerative battery packs, capturing energy during descents for later use, reducing fuel usage and carbon emissions by up to 30%. As a next step, First Mode also offers emission-free Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle (FCEV) and Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) options.
The Path to Zero™ solutions will be available from 2025, supported by staff training, fuel sourcing assistance, maintenance, and spare parts access to ensure seamless integration with existing fleet management systems.
