First Mode is constructing a 45,000-square-foot factory in Seattle’s Sodo neighborhood, as reported by Puget Sound Business Journal. Utilizing smart manufacturing, the factory will produce retrofit solutions to replace diesel engines in mining haul trucks and is set to begin operations in late 2023. This expansion of First Mode’s manufacturing footprint is in service to the company’s mission to eliminate diesel from heavy industry, with its initial powertrains destined for testing at the First Mode Proving Grounds at the First Mode Proving Grounds in Centralia, Washington, USA. Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell expressed enthusiasm about the facility, anticipating its contribution to job creation and a more sustainable future.

“We’re incredibly pleased that First Mode is establishing its first manufacturing facility in Seattle. We look forward to how this state-of-the-art facility helps First Mode achieve its mission of decarbonizing heavy industry, brings clean energy jobs to our city and builds a more sustainable future.”
