This acknowledgement underscores First Mode’s innovative approach to decarbonizing heavy industry, starting with mining haulage. It also marks the third year that First Mode has been recognized by Fast Company for our breakthrough innovations in clean technology.
In 2024, Fast Company focused on our Path to Zero™ product line’s unique retrofit method for empowering heavy industry customers to begin, progress, and succeed on their decarbonization journey. For customers who are ready to start decarbonizing their diesel-fueled fleet operations, our hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) retrofit of ultra-class heavy haul trucks is a low-risk, cost-effective first step to immediately reduce carbon emissions by up to 25%. In addition, our HEV’s safe and robust design ensures it is not only ready for immediate mine site deployment, but equipped with a modular power architecture that also feeds forward to either our full battery or next-generation fuel cell solution, which are both zero-emissions. Importantly, such upgrades occur at a pace that customers control – providing them time to build supporting mine site infrastructure as the broader supply chains for clean grid electricity or clean hydrogen continue to grow.
Further, the technology blocks underpinning our Path to Zero™ product line can be leveraged for freight rail and stationary power, among other heavy industry applications — giving historically diesel-dependent sectors a range of proven options for decarbonizing their operations.
